BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least 13 people were killed in an overnight landslide at Irsalwadi in Khalapur in Raigad district. Heavy rains continue to fall in the region as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Raigad. Around 25 to 28 families are trapped under the debris.
"Twelve bodies have been recovered from the debris at Irsalwadi in Raigad," raigad police said. One rescuer also died of a heart attack. A total of 13 people have died so far. '
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Around 75 people have been rescued so far. The Raigad incident is very serious. There are 48 houses in the village. Around 225 people live in the village and around 80 to 85 people have been identified so far. '
