PATNA, Bihar – Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, addressed a large gathering during the 'Samvidham Sukraksha Sammelan' in Patna, where he strongly criticized recent statements by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Gandhi condemned Bhagwat’s assertion that India did not gain independence in 1947 but rather after that. He expressed concern that such statements contradict the very spirit of India’s Constitution.

“As Ganga water goes everywhere, similarly, the vision of the Constitution should reach everyone,” Gandhi remarked, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and constitutional values. He further added, “If Mohan Bhagwat is saying that, then he is denying the Constitution. They are trying to erase the thoughts of Lord Buddha, Gandhiji, Ambedkar ji, Phule ji from all the agencies, institutions, financial, economic systems, and social structures.”

He took a sharp jab at the current government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing them of undermining the nation’s founding principles. “You tell me, where is it written in the Constitution that all the money of the country should go in the hands of 2-3 people?” Gandhi questioned. He pointed to the growing concentration of wealth in the hands of a few and how this contradicts the spirit of equality enshrined in the Constitution.

Rahul Gandhi also recalled Modi’s earlier promises, referencing the Prime Minister’s statement during an election campaign that the BJP would change the Constitution if it won a significant majority. “Modi ji used to say that if they get 400 seats, then they will change it. When we made him understand the reality of the Constitution, he came to the Parliament keeping it on his head,” Gandhi stated, drawing attention to the contradictions in the Modi government’s rhetoric and actions.
