New Delhi — Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday praised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders for what he described as their outstanding execution of the state’s caste census. Gandhi stated that the Telangana government had surpassed his expectations in both intent and execution.

“Revanth Reddy and other leaders of the Congress party exceeded my expectations very easily. Not only did they do the caste census in the spirit that it should have been done... I can say with certainty that the level of competence with which they have done it is a milestone for social justice in the country,” Gandhi said.

Speaking to reporters, Gandhi framed the Telangana caste survey as a model for other states and the central government to emulate. He added that the approach adopted by the state government could serve as a reference point for a national caste census, regardless of the ruling BJP's stance on the issue.
