New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday renewed his attack on the BJP, alleging that the ruling party is engaged in “vote chori” and manipulating the electoral process.
Speaking at a public gathering, Gandhi recounted an incident from his journey to the event. “On my way here, a group of 6-year-olds looked at me and said, ‘Narendra Modi Vote chor.’ Children as young as six have understood that votes are being stolen in India,” he claimed.
The Congress leader also took aim at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent remark that the BJP would remain in power for the next 40 years. “A few days ago, Amit Shah said that the BJP will remain in power for the next 40 years. No one knows what would happen in politics, but Amit Shah knows the future for the next 40 years. How? Vote chori,” Gandhi said.
Framing the issue as a threat to India’s democratic framework, Gandhi alleged that such statements reflected overconfidence built on undermining electoral integrity. He argued that the opposition INDIA alliance would continue to challenge what he described as the misuse of institutions and the erosion of public trust in elections.
