Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President and Member of Parliament Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has criticized the Centre's approach towards the ongoing farmers' protests. Speaking on the issue, Warring stated, "All that the farmers are asking for is a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP). The Centre's behavior is not right, resorting to lathi-charges against farmers and preventing them from reaching Delhi."
The farmers have been demanding a legal framework to secure MSP for their crops, a key issue that has sparked widespread protests. Warring highlighted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been vocal in supporting this demand. "Our leader Rahul Gandhi has also raised the matter of legal guarantee on MSP," he said.
Referring to the government's actions as oppressive, Warring added, "The Centre's attitude towards farmers is unacceptable. Instead of engaging in dialogue, they are using force to suppress their voices. This is a democracy, and such actions are unjust."
He also assured that the Congress party would take up the matter in Parliament. "If we get a chance, we will raise this issue during Zero Hour or Question Hour in Parliament," he asserted, emphasizing the party's commitment to addressing farmers' concerns.
The protests have reignited debates over agricultural reforms, with opposition parties demanding immediate redressal of farmers' grievances. As the impasse continues, the Congress party has pledged its support to the farming community and plans to escalate the issue at both state and national levels.
