President of India Droupadi Murmu on Thursday addressed the Jnanpith Award ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where she honoured Jagatguru Ram Bhadracharya with the prestigious literary award.
Congratulating him, the President said, “I would like to congratulate Jagatguru Ram Bhadracharya ji on receiving the Jnanpith Award.” She highlighted the deeper meaning behind the award’s name, saying, “In these two words of the Bharatiya Jnanpith, the basic unity of the knowledge and traditions of the people of India is expressed.”
President Murmu emphasized that Indian literature, across all languages, reflects the cultural, spiritual, and literary unity of the country. “Across the literature of all Indian languages, the fragrance of the Indian soil is distinctly present,” she said.
The Jnanpith Award is one of India’s highest literary honours, given to writers for outstanding contributions to literature in any of the country’s recognized languages. Jagatguru Ram Bhadracharya, a scholar, poet, and spiritual leader, was recognized for his exceptional literary work in Sanskrit.
