Puri, Odisha: Addressing the Indian Navy Day programme, President Droupadi Murmu hailed India’s rich maritime heritage and underscored the pivotal role of the Indian Navy in securing the nation's maritime boundaries and supporting its global ambitions.

 

"India's geography has endowed us with all the elements necessary to be a great maritime nation," President Murmu remarked. She highlighted India's historic dominance in maritime trade, enabled by ship-building capabilities and the strategic use of monsoon wind patterns.

 

“With a glorious maritime heritage and history to look back on and a future full of promise to look forward to, India has always been a strong maritime nation,” she added.

 

Speaking on the importance of maritime security, President Murmu expressed her confidence in the Indian Navy's ability to uphold India’s strategic interests. "As India's economy grows and our interest and influence expand across the globe, I am confident that the Indian Navy will continue to ensure maritime security essential to enable our rise to a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047," she stated.

 

The Indian Navy Day celebration, held in the coastal city of Puri, showcased India's advancements in naval capabilities, symbolizing the nation's commitment to bolstering its maritime strength as it strives to achieve global prominence.
