New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday met the World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team at Rashtrapati Bhavan, congratulating them on their historic triumph. Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur presented the President with a special jersey signed by all the players.
India scripted history last Sunday by clinching their first-ever global title in women’s cricket, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the 50-over World Cup final held in Navi Mumbai.
President Murmu lauded the team for their remarkable performance, saying they had not only achieved a milestone victory but also inspired millions of young girls across the country. “You have not only created history but also become role models for the younger generation,” she said, commending their grit, teamwork, and dedication.
