Thiruvarur: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday addressed the 10th convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), urging students to embrace India’s ancient knowledge traditions while making use of modern resources available in the digital era.
Speaking at the event, the President said India has a rich legacy of seeking knowledge for its own sake, a tradition that has shaped the country’s intellectual and cultural foundations. “In India, we have great and ancient traditions that sought knowledge for the sake of knowledge,” she noted.
Highlighting the opportunities available to the current generation, Murmu said that students today are uniquely positioned to combine the best of both worlds. “In today’s digital age, you are in the enviable position of having so many learning resources available to you. It is far easier for you to rediscover our rich legacy than for previous generations. It brings together the best of traditions and modernity,” she added.
The convocation ceremony saw the participation of graduating students, faculty members, and dignitaries. University officials said the event marked an important milestone for the institution, which continues to focus on academic excellence, research, and holistic education.
