New Delhi – President Droupadi Murmu on Friday underscored the significance of a strong judicial system, stating that the fear of being caught and punished among criminals, along with the common people's trust in justice, are essential components of good governance.

"Control of crime, fear among criminals of being caught and punished, and trust of common people in getting justice is the identity of good governance," President Murmu said. She emphasized that India has always upheld a social system based on justice and fairness.

Speaking on the introduction of three new criminal laws in 2024, she called it a "watershed moment" in Indian history, reaffirming the need for a judicial system that is truly inclusive.

The President’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions on legal reforms aimed at strengthening law enforcement and improving judicial efficiency. Her statement reinforces the government’s commitment to ensuring swift justice and maintaining law and order in the country.
