President Droupadi Murmu Confers Bharat Ratna At Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu honored India's Highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, to four people posthumously at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi on March 30, Saturday. LK Advani will also be conferred with Bharat Ratna at his residence.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: President Droupadi Murmu honored India's Highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, to four people posthumously at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi on March 30, Saturday. LK Advani will also be conferred with Bharat Ratna at his residence. 

The award was conferred on five individuals namely former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur (posthumously), former PM PV Narasimha Rao (posthumously), former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh (posthumously), Agronomist MS Swaminathan (posthumously) and veteran BJP leader LK Advani. However, Bharat Ratna will be conferred upon LK Advani at his residence considering his health.

As four of them were awarded posthumously, their kin received the award. Karpoori Thakur's son Ram Nath Thakur, Chaudhary Charan Singh's grandson Jayant Singh, PV Narasimha Rao's son PV Prabhakar Rao, and MS Swaminathan's daughter Nitya Rao received the award. 

Prominent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and many others attended the ceremony.
