By A Staff Reporter: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal for major leadership appointments in India’s paramilitary forces. According to the official order, Praveer Ranjan, an IPS officer of the 1993 batch from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He was previously serving as Special DG of CISF.

At the same time, Praveen Kumar, also a 1993-batch IPS officer but from the West Bengal cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). He was earlier working as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
This move marks a significant leadership reshuffle in India’s central paramilitary forces, with both officers bringing decades of experience to their new roles. The appointments were formally approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, following the Ministry of Home Affairs’ recommendations.
The selection of these two senior IPS officers highlights the government’s focus on strengthening the leadership of critical forces responsible for national security and border management.
