New Delhi: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Prime Minister, accusing him of maintaining silence on pressing national issues, including alleged corruption, unemployment, and relations with China.

Addressing a press conference, Ramesh said that despite repeated questions from the Opposition, the Prime Minister has avoided speaking on critical matters that directly affect the people. “We asked questions about Trump. The Prime Minister didn't break his silence. We asked questions about China, but the Prime Minister didn't break his silence,” Ramesh said.

He further added that the real challenges facing the country are being ignored. “The real issues are social justice issues, economic issues, unemployment, bribery, and corruption,” he said. Referring to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, he alleged a massive financial irregularity in Bihar. “According to the CAG report, Rs 70,000 crore has disappeared from just 10 departments in Bihar. I'm not saying this. The Congress party isn't saying this. The CAG is saying this, but the Prime Minister is silent,” Ramesh added.

Commenting on the NDA’s Chief Ministerial face in Bihar, Ramesh said that the BJP leadership had left the decision to its legislative party. “The Home Minister said that the MLAs of the legislative party will sit together and elect a leader. That’s what he said,” he noted.

Ramesh also questioned Nitish Kumar’s ability to govern effectively, saying, “Nitish Kumar is a very experienced person. He’s been the Chief Minister for a long time. But he’s not in a position to run the government. There’s bureaucracy, and whatever the BJP wants is happening in Bihar.”
