Baksa, Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the state on December 20 will mark a significant push to Assam’s development trajectory, with key infrastructure and agricultural projects set to receive renewed momentum. Speaking ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, Sarma highlighted two major initiatives—the new terminal at Guwahati Airport and the expansion of the Namrup fertiliser project—as central to Assam’s economic growth.
According to the Chief Minister, the new airport terminal will substantially enhance passenger capacity and convenience, making travel smoother for residents and visitors alike. He said the improved infrastructure is expected to attract more tourists, further bolstering the state’s growing tourism sector. “The new terminal at Guwahati Airport will greatly improve passenger convenience and boost the state's tourism sector,” Sarma noted.
He also underscored the importance of the large-scale fertiliser project at Namrup, calling it a crucial step towards strengthening Assam’s agricultural framework. The upgraded facility is expected to increase fertiliser availability across the region, supporting farmers and helping raise their incomes. “The project will strengthen the agricultural sector and help increase the income of farmers,” he said.
