Brasilia: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi lands in Brazil for his first official state visit, India’s Ambassador to Brazil, Dinesh Bhatia, emphasized the historical and strategic significance of the growing Indo-Brazilian relationship. Speaking to reporters in Brasilia, Bhatia said, “India and Brazil are very close countries. India opened its first embassy in Latin America here in 1948. Since then, we have had a very close relationship.”

He elaborated on the evolution of bilateral ties, noting that the relationship was elevated to a strategic partnership in 2006. “Since then, we have continued to move from strength to strength,” Bhatia added, highlighting the consistent diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
