New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Oman from December 17 to 18, 2025, at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Thursday. This will be Modi’s second visit to the Gulf nation and comes at a significant moment as India and Oman celebrate 70 years of formal diplomatic relations.
Briefing the media ahead of the Prime Minister’s upcoming tour of Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, Secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Kumar Chatterjee said the visit underscores the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. “PM Modi will visit Oman on 17–18 December 2025 at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. This is his second visit to Oman and comes as both countries celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations,” Chatterjee stated.
India and Oman share strong historical, cultural and economic links, with robust cooperation across defence, energy, maritime security, and people-to-people exchanges. Over 700,000 Indians reside in Oman, forming one of the largest expatriate communities in the country.
