UTTARKASHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Uttarakhand, where he will offer special prayers at the revered Maa Ganga Temple in Mukhba, Uttarkashi. The temple, which serves as the winter abode of Goddess Ganga, holds deep cultural and religious significance for devotees across the country.

As part of the visit, the Temple Committee has planned a special gesture to honor the Prime Minister with a traditional woolen gift. Sri Jackson Prasad Semwal, Secretary of the Temple Committee, emphasized the historical importance of sheep farming in the region. "Sheep and goats were the main animals in the mountains, providing two key benefits: their dung was used for plants, and their wool, considered sacred, was of high quality. Sheep farming was the main occupation here, and wool products like coats and mufflers were made for both cold and hot climates," he said.

In recognition of this tradition, the committee has decided to present PM Modi with handcrafted woolen items such as a shawl or salwar, made from locally sourced wool. These gifts symbolize the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the mountain communities, where wool has played a vital role in both livelihood and culture for generations.
