VIJAYAWADA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the people and government of Andhra Pradesh for hosting this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations, which will be held on June 21. In a statement that underscores the significance of the event, the Prime Minister called it “an important milestone in the 10-year journey of International Yoga Day.”

“I am thankful to the Chief Minister and the people of Andhra Pradesh for the invitation to organise the country’s flagship event,” Modi said. “I will be doing yoga with the people of Andhra Pradesh on that day.”
Highlighting the global attention the event is expected to draw, Modi remarked, “This time the whole world will be looking at Andhra Pradesh.” He called upon the people of the state to turn the next 50 days into a vibrant celebration of yoga, encouraging the organisation of yoga competitions and mass participation events.
