Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bengaluru on August 10 to inaugurate the much-anticipated Yellow Line Metro and lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3, marking a significant boost to the city's public transport infrastructure. BJP MP from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, announced the Prime Minister’s visit in a social media post, calling it a "landmark moment" for the region.
“The long-awaited Yellow Line Metro operations will finally begin, and the foundation stone for Phase 3 will be laid. This project received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of the Prime Minister’s third term, reflecting his commitment to fast-tracking urban infrastructure,” Surya wrote.
According to Surya, these Metro projects are poised to benefit nearly 25 lakh residents in Bengaluru South, significantly easing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility. “With nearly ₹20,000 crore worth of Metro infrastructure being dedicated to this region alone, we are incredibly grateful to PM Modi for his continued focus, affection, and commitment to Bengaluru South’s public transport infrastructure,” he added.
The Yellow Line, a key component of the city’s expanding Metro network, is expected to improve connectivity between major commercial and residential hubs, reducing travel time and providing a reliable transport option to commuters. The commencement of Phase 3 is also being seen as a strategic step towards addressing Bengaluru’s growing transportation needs amid rapid urban expansion.
