New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that he will be addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally in Kolkata, framing the event as part of the party’s campaign push in West Bengal.

In a post on social media, Modi wrote, “I am eager to be among @BJP4Bengal Karyakartas at a rally in Kolkata. With each passing day, public anger against the TMC is increasing. West Bengal is eagerly looking towards the BJP with hope because of our development agenda.”

The rally is expected to showcase the BJP’s electoral messaging, with a focus on governance and development, while also intensifying criticism of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

West Bengal remains a key political battleground, with the BJP seeking to expand its presence in the state. The TMC, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has countered such claims by highlighting welfare schemes and regional identity, setting the stage for a sharp political contest.
