Greater Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stated that the tax burden on citizens is expected to ease further as India’s economy strengthens. Speaking at the inauguration of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, Modi highlighted the ongoing reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a key factor driving economic growth and financial relief for taxpayers.
“Next-gen GST reforms have significantly brought down taxes for the poor and middle class; structural reforms in GST are set to give new wings to India’s growth story,” Modi said. He emphasized that the process of GST reform is continuous, aimed at simplifying compliance, reducing rates where possible, and improving the overall efficiency of the tax system.
The Prime Minister noted that these measures are designed to boost the economy, support businesses, and enhance disposable income for citizens, thereby contributing to broader economic development. Officials said that structural changes in GST are part of a broader strategy to streamline indirect taxation, encourage investment, and promote ease of doing business across the country.
