Muzaffarpur, Bihar | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invoked memories of Bihar’s so-called “jungle raj” era to attack the opposition alliance of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, accusing their past governments of lawlessness, corruption, and economic stagnation.
Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarpur, Modi said the misrule of that period destroyed business confidence and forced widespread migration. “During the jungle raj, even car dealerships and vehicle showrooms were forced to shut down, not because there was no business potential, but because RJD leaders, along with their gangs, would loot the showrooms, steal the vehicles, and terrorise the owners,” the Prime Minister told the crowd.
He said the “misdeeds” of the RJD-Congress governments left an entire generation of young people without jobs. “Because of the misdeeds of RJD and Congress, lakhs of young people were left unemployed and forced to migrate in search of livelihood. When we recall those days of jungle raj, we realise how dangerous the situation truly was,” he said.
