New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and advancing rural development while addressing a post-budget virtual webinar on agriculture and rural prosperity. He urged stakeholders to contribute towards making existing schemes more effective in achieving the vision of a developed India.
“Our resolve towards the goal of Viksit Bharat is very clear. Together, we are building an India where farmers are prosperous and empowered,” Modi said. He described agriculture as the first engine of development, adding that the budget reflects continuity in policies while expanding the vision for a developed India.

Highlighting the success of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), Modi stated that nearly ₹3.75 lakh crore has been directly transferred to 11 crore farmers, strengthening the rural economy with an annual assistance of ₹6,000 per farmer.
He also pointed out a significant rise in agricultural production, which has grown from 265 million tonnes to over 330 million tonnes in the past decade. Additionally, he announced the formation of PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, under which 100 districts with the lowest agricultural productivity will receive focused development efforts.
