PATHANKOT: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation in Punjab following recent devastation, and assured that both temporary and long-term measures are being taken for the affected families.
“We want to assure people that PM Modi himself is concerned about Punjab. He’s monitoring the situation on a day-to-day basis and is being briefed,” Singh said while addressing the media.
The Union Minister added that he had personally held a virtual meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of 23 districts of Punjab to assess the ground realities.
Outlining relief measures, Singh said, “There are two types of arrangements for those whose homes were washed away. First, temporary arrangements have been made. Wherever land has been washed away, at vulnerable points, we will ensure that when reconstruction takes place, it is even better than before.”
