New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to the victims and survivors of the 1947 Partition, marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day with a message emphasising both remembrance and resilience. In a post on social media, he reflected on the “suffering and pain endured by countless people” during one of the most tragic episodes in the subcontinent’s history.
Modi described the day as an occasion not only to recall the hardships faced by millions but also to honour the courage with which they rebuilt their lives. He noted that many who were displaced by the partition went on to achieve remarkable success in various walks of life, demonstrating extraordinary determination in the face of adversity.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of using the day as a reminder of the nation’s shared responsibility to preserve and strengthen the spirit of harmony and unity. He highlighted that the experiences of the past should serve as a guiding force for building a more inclusive and cohesive future.
