Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a series of development works in Darrang district of Assam. Addressing a large public gathering, he described the visit as significant, marking his first trip to the state after the successful conclusion of Operation Sindoor. “With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Operation Sindoor was a tremendous success, and being on the land of Maa Kamakhya gives a completely different and sacred experience,” he said.
The Prime Minister underlined Assam’s role in the country’s growth story, noting that both India and Assam are among the fastest-growing economies in their respective categories. “Today, India is one of the fastest-growing countries in the world, and Assam is also among the fastest-growing states,” he stated.
During his address, Modi also interacted with the crowd and acknowledged a unique gesture from an attendee. Spotting a person holding a painting of him alongside his late mother, he expressed gratitude and assured the artist that he would respond personally. “I will surely write you a letter. You have made a very beautiful portrait. I am very thankful to you,” he remarked.
