VISAKHAPATNAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Andhra Pradesh, praised the state's historic and continuing contributions to India’s space sector, while announcing a significant boost to national defence capabilities. Speaking at a public event, the Prime Minister declared the launch of DRDO’s new missile testing facility, the Nav Durga Testing Range, as a critical step forward in India’s strategic strength.
“Andhra Pradesh has played an important role in making India a space power for decades,” said Modi. “This state has been attracting crores of youth towards the space sector.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the new facility would further energize the state’s role in the space and defence ecosystem. “A new institution is now available to the country for strengthening the space and defence sector. We laid the foundation of DRDO's new missile testing range,” he announced.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the new testing range, Modi said, “Nav Durga testing range will empower the defence power in India.”
