New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, an ambitious campaign aimed at strengthening the link between agricultural research and grassroots farming practices. Addressing the audience at the official launch event, the Prime Minister highlighted the critical role both agriculture scientists and progressive farmers have played in revolutionising Indian agriculture over the decades.
“In the previous decades, our agriculture scientists have done good research in several sectors and produced better results,” said PM Modi. “At the same time, progressive farmers across the country brought about great changes through their own innovations and experiments, significantly increasing agricultural productivity.”

However, Modi emphasized a pressing concern — the lack of dissemination of successful research findings and field-level innovations. “It is very important for the details on successful research by scientists and successful experiments by progressive farmers to reach all our farmers,” he said.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to address this gap by creating structured channels through which innovations in farming — whether born in laboratories or fields — are systematically shared with the broader farming population. The initiative envisions a collaborative effort involving research institutions, agri-universities, extension workers, and experienced cultivators.
PM Modi noted that while many individuals and organizations have been working in this direction, the time has come to "do this with a new vigour." The campaign is expected to provide “ample opportunities” for exchange of knowledge, on-ground demonstrations, and region-specific agricultural solutions.
