New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and inaugurated agriculture and allied sector projects worth Rs 42,000 crore, underscoring the government’s efforts to promote farmer development and regional planning.

Addressing the gathering, Modi highlighted the government’s increased allocation for agriculture over the past decade. "It has been the government's continuous effort to ensure development of farmers. The same can be seen in the budget. In the past 11 years, the agriculture budget has increased by 6 per cent," he said. Comparing current support to previous regimes, he added that while the Congress government provided Rs 5,00,000 crore in fertiliser subsidies over 10 years, his government has allocated over Rs 13,00,000 crore in the last decade.

Modi also urged farmers and local bodies to prepare region-specific plans for crop production that align with local ecological conditions. He emphasized the importance of focusing on underprivileged areas, citing improvements in aspirational districts where maternal mortality rates have declined and the education and health of children have improved. "These districts are now doing better than many other districts," he said.
