New Delhi/Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Safran Aircraft Engine Services India facility in Hyderabad through video conferencing, marking what he described as a milestone moment for the country’s aviation ecosystem. He said the launch would give a major push to India’s aspiration of becoming a leading global hub for aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services.
Addressing the event virtually, the Prime Minister stated that the facility would not only enhance India’s aviation repair and overhaul capabilities but also open fresh pathways of employment and high-skilled technical opportunities for the country’s youth. “From today, India’s aviation sector is set to soar to new heights,” Modi said, adding that the aerospace MRO sector represents one of the fastest growing segments in the global market.
Modi recalled his recent meeting with Safran officials on November 24, where he said he sensed strong confidence in India’s economic future and industrial capacity. He expressed optimism that investments from Safran — one of the world’s major players in aircraft engine manufacturing and servicing — would accelerate in the coming years, further integrating India into the global aviation supply chain.
