Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, June 4, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Katra on Tuesday, unveiled a series of landmark infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating development in Jammu & Kashmir. Highlighting the transformative potential of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line, PM Modi declared it "not just a name, but the identity of the new power of Jammu & Kashmir" and “a proclamation of the new power of India.”
The Prime Minister inaugurated the strategically crucial Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, and the Anji Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, both marvels of engineering vital to the region’s connectivity.
Adding further to the connectivity boost, he flagged off two new Vande Bharat trains, enhancing high-speed rail travel options for the people of the Union Territory and linking remote regions more effectively with the rest of the country.
“These projects are not merely constructions of steel and concrete, but milestones in the journey of a new, developed Jammu & Kashmir,” Modi stated. He announced that projects worth ₹46,000 crore have been dedicated to the region, marking a massive investment in infrastructure, tourism, and regional connectivity.
