Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an informal yet impactful interaction with Members of Parliament who had been part of various international outreach delegations. The meeting, held in a relaxed setting, was aimed at acknowledging the contributions of the MPs and discussing future avenues for parliamentary diplomacy.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who participated in the interaction, described it as a warm and engaging session. “He was certainly very pleasant to all of us. He saw this as an opportunity to thank the delegations for their service,” Tharoor said, highlighting the Prime Minister’s appreciation for the MPs' global engagements.

The meeting, held outdoors, saw the Prime Minister moving from table to table, engaging with different groups of MPs in a casual and candid manner. “It wasn’t a formal meeting at all. It was a good, lively, informal meeting,” Tharoor noted, adding that although some MPs had prepared reports on their visits, the interaction remained conversational rather than procedural.

A key takeaway from the discussion, according to Tharoor, was the shared international sentiment that such MP visits enhance bilateral ties and should be institutionalized. “Every country said it was a very good idea for Members of Parliament to visit them. We all suggested that this should become a regular practice,” he said.
