New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday underlined the rapid transformation of India’s space sector, crediting recent reforms that opened the field to private players. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the Prime Minister said that for decades the country’s space ecosystem remained restricted to government agencies, but policy changes in recent years have unlocked unprecedented innovation and scale.
Modi highlighted the emergence of private companies such as Skyroot Aerospace as a testament to this shift. “Just 10–11 days ago, I inaugurated the Infinity Campus of Skyroot in Hyderabad. Skyroot is India’s private space company. This company is working on the capability to build one rocket every month,” he said, noting that the firm is currently developing its flight-ready Vikram-1 launch vehicle.
The Prime Minister emphasised that while the government has created the platform, India’s youth and entrepreneurs are driving the next phase of growth. “The government has provided the platform and India’s youth is building a new future on it. This is the real transformation,” he added.
