Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the contributions of the Marathi language to India's freedom struggle while participating in the Abhijat Marathi language program in Mumbai. Reflecting on its historical significance, PM Modi stated, "The history of India's freedom struggle is enriched by the contribution of the Marathi language. Several revolutionaries from Maharashtra used the Marathi language to make people aware."
Highlighting the influence of Lokmanya Tilak, PM Modi noted, "Through the Marathi newspaper Kesari, Lokmanya Tilak had shook the foreign rule (British Raj)." He emphasized the cultural and revolutionary power of the language in mobilizing people and raising awareness during the struggle for independence.
