Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a public rally in Arunachal Pradesh, combining economic and developmental issues with sharp criticism of past governments.

Speaking on the recently announced GST reforms, Modi emphasized their direct impact on households, particularly women. “The latest GST reforms will reduce the kitchen budget, helping women manage daily expenses,” he said, presenting the changes as a relief measure for families at a time of rising costs.

Contrasting his government’s approach with that of the Congress, Modi accused the opposition party of burdening citizens during its tenure. “The Congress government kept on increasing taxes even as everything got expensive,” he alleged, adding that his administration sought to reduce financial strain rather than add to it.

The Prime Minister also turned attention to border regions, stressing that development had been neglected for decades. He claimed that Congress policies had caused large-scale migration from frontier villages, weakening communities in strategically sensitive areas. “Border villages were neglected by Congress, leading to migration. We changed this,” Modi asserted, highlighting recent initiatives in infrastructure, connectivity, and livelihood support along the India-China border.
