New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated veteran actor Mohanlal on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honor. In a tweet, the Prime Minister praised Mohanlal’s decades-long contributions to Malayalam cinema and theatre, as well as his performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films.
“Mohanlal Ji epitomises excellence and versatility. With a rich body of work spanning decades, he stands as a leading light of Malayalam cinema and theatre and is deeply passionate about the culture of Kerala,” Modi wrote. He added that Mohanlal’s “cinematic and theatrical brilliance across mediums is truly inspiring” and wished that his accomplishments continue to inspire future generations.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, named after the father of Indian cinema, recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Indian cinema. Mohanlal, renowned for his versatile acting and charismatic screen presence, has been a defining figure in South Indian cinema and has received numerous accolades over his career.
