New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed condolences over the deaths caused by a landslide near Ardhkuwari on the route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. The tragedy, triggered by heavy rainfall, has claimed multiple lives and left several others injured.
Taking to social media, the Prime Minister wrote, “The loss of lives due to a landslide on the route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is saddening. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. The administration is assisting all those affected. My prayers for everyone's safety and well-being.”
Rescue and relief operations have been underway since Tuesday, with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, Army, and local administration deployed to clear debris and assist pilgrims. Authorities have temporarily halted movement along the affected stretch until conditions are declared safe.
