New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense pride following the inclusion of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register. This prestigious recognition is seen as a global acknowledgment of India's rich cultural heritage and the enduring wisdom these texts continue to offer.
In his social media post, PM Modi remarked, “A proud moment for every Indian across the world! The inclusion of the Gita and Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register is a global recognition of our timeless wisdom and rich culture. The Gita and Natyashastra have nurtured civilisation, and consciousness for centuries. Their insights continue to inspire the world.”
The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, a revered spiritual text from the Mahabharata, and Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra, the foundational treatise on Indian performing arts, were among the 74 new entries in the Memory of the World Register, a program that preserves documents of global significance. These texts not only provide spiritual guidance but have also shaped various fields such as philosophy, art, and culture, leaving an indelible mark on the world’s heritage.
