New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) PM Rally at the Cariappa Parade Ground in the national capital, emphasized the need for a national debate on the concept of 'One Nation, One Election.' He urged citizens to engage in discussions on the subject, which he described as crucial for the nation's progress.

Highlighting the historical context, PM Modi noted that post-Independence, Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections were held simultaneously for a significant period. However, this practice was disrupted over time, leading to frequent elections across the country. "Today, India holds the biggest elections in the world. But elections in India keep happening after every few months. The breaking of the earlier pattern has caused a lot of damage to the country," he stated.

PM Modi underscored the importance of 'One Nation, One Election' as a potential solution to address the challenges posed by continuous electoral cycles. "A crucial debate is going on in the country. This debate is 'One Nation, One Election.' I request the people of the country to become a part of this debate in large numbers. There should be a discussion across the country so that the country can move in the right direction," he remarked.
