Kananaskis, Canada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, delivered a powerful message on behalf of the Global South while renewing India’s call for a unified international response to terrorism.

Highlighting the growing uncertainty and regional conflicts across the globe, Modi said, “These crises have had a debilitating impact on countries of the Global South.” He added that India, recognising this challenge, took it as its responsibility to bring the voice and concerns of the Global South to the global stage. “If the world truly seeks a sustainable future, it must first understand and prioritise the realities and challenges of the Global South,” he said.

The Prime Minister also focused extensively on the global security landscape, urging collective and uncompromising action against terrorism. Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said, “This was not merely an attack on India, but on all humanity.”

He called upon the global community to act decisively against countries that support and sponsor terrorism, warning against double standards. “Those who promote terrorism must face strict consequences. They should never be legitimised or rewarded,” he said.

Raising a series of pointed questions, Modi challenged the global conscience: “Will countries wake up to the threat of terrorism only when they themselves are targeted? How can perpetrators and victims of terrorism ever be treated equally? And will international institutions remain silent spectators while innocent lives are lost?”
