VARANASI | Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public gathering in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, launched a sharp attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing them of disrespecting the Indian Army and indulging in vote-bank politics. Referring to the recent Operation Sindoor, PM Modi criticized the Congress for allegedly belittling the military operation by calling it a “tamasha” (spectacle).
“The Congress is repeatedly insulting the valour of our Army. They referred to Operation Sindoor, a proud moment for India, as a 'tamasha'. Can anyone call 'sindoor'—a symbol of dignity and sacrifice—a tamasha? Such shamelessness is unacceptable,” Modi said, drawing applause from the audience.
He further targeted the Samajwadi Party, alleging that its leaders were engaging in appeasement politics. Citing a recent Parliament debate, Modi said, “These Samajwadi Party leaders were questioning why terrorists in Pahalgam were eliminated. Should we now consult them before acting against terrorists? This mindset of giving clean chits to terrorists when they were in power in Uttar Pradesh is dangerous for the nation.”
Modi emphasized that under his leadership, India has adopted a decisive and uncompromising approach to national security. “This is the new India. This India worships Bholenath (Lord Shiva) but also transforms into Kaal Bhairav (fierce form of Shiva) for enemies of the country,” he asserted.
