Brescia, Italy: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed admiration for Italy’s innovative waste-to-energy initiatives and emphasized the deep cultural and historical ties binding India and Italy.

Speaking in Brescia, Goyal thanked Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani for the invitation and praised the city’s waste-to-energy plant, which saves 800,000 tons of carbon emissions annually while keeping the urban environment clean and beautiful. “I am learning a lot from my visit there and hoping that we can take some of these ideas to India,” he remarked.

Goyal highlighted the shared cultural heritage of the two nations, noting, “What we just saw was truly remarkable, our art and our culture bring Italy and India closer together. You have a long heritage, long traditional past and so does India.”

He also spoke about the collaborative efforts underway between India and Italy to boost trade, business, and investment. “Just like Deputy Prime Minister Tajani and I are working to expand trade, business and investment between the two countries, I am sure our history, our culture, our tradition, our art will also bring the people of the two countries closer together.”

Looking ahead, Goyal expressed optimism about continuing partnership: “I am looking forward to a very productive engagement with Deputy Prime Minister and I am sure that we will all work together as one family towards global good.”
