Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the significant employment growth in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, citing a recent Reserve Bank of India (RBI) report.
"Yesterday, the report released by the Reserve Bank of India on employment generation reflects how, under PM Modi's leadership, India has successfully and swiftly generated new jobs and employment opportunities," Goyal said. "For the first time since 1981-82, around 2.5 times higher number of employment opportunities became available last year. More than 4.60 crore people received new employment last year, marking an increase of around 6%."
Goyal also mentioned that the unemployment rate in 2022-23 was at a low 3.2%. "I believe that PM Modi's term has been the most successful in terms of new job creation," he added.
He contrasted this with the previous UPA regime, citing an SBI report that states 12.5 crore jobs have been generated between 2014-2023, compared to just 2.90 crore from 2004-2014.
