In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, retired Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita has stated that the assault was a deliberate attempt to destabilize the growing sense of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. He described the incident as a well-orchestrated move by terrorists and their handlers in Pakistan, aimed at projecting the region as unstable and disturbed.

“There are a lot of new things which you can see when you analyse this incident. It is very obvious that this is a pre-planned move designed to send a strategic message by the terrorist and their handler, Pakistan,” Kalita remarked, pointing to the broader implications behind the act of violence.

He explained that the attack was timed and executed to contradict the visible signs of peace in the Valley, including the surge in tourism and economic activity. “The signs of normalcy seen with the rise in tourism are only temporary. I think this was the primary message that the terrorists wanted to send,” he added.
