External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Wednesday underscored the strong international support India received in the wake of rising tensions with Pakistan, particularly after the Pahalgam terror attack that triggered Operation Sindoor. Addressing the media, Jaishankar said world leaders stood by India’s right to defend itself and hold perpetrators of terror accountable.

“We actually got a lot of international support. Many ministers and many leaders called up the Prime Minister, and many leaders reached out to me as well,” Jaishankar revealed. “We had a UN Security Council resolution that stated the perpetrators must be held accountable—and on the morning of May 7, they were held accountable through Operation Sindoor.”

The operation, described by Indian officials as one of the most significant counter-terror actions in recent history, involved precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure and was seen as a decisive message to Pakistan and its proxies.

Reaffirming India’s diplomatic posture, Jaishankar stressed, “Our relations and dealings with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral. That is a national consensus for years, and there is absolutely no change in that.”
