Panchayat Election: Supreme Court agrees to hear the State Election Commission's plea

 The political mercury is rising. Panchayat polls will be held on July 8 in West Bengal, but before that, the state election commission has drawn the attention of the Supreme Court. Supreme Court agrees to list tomorrow, 20th June a plea challenging the Calcutta High Court's order regarding the deployment of central forces in the panchayat election in West Bengal.

Recently, the Calcutta High Court ordered the conduct of panchayat polls in the state under the supervision of central forces. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government and the State Election Commission have moved the Supreme Court challenging the verdict.
