By A Staff Reporter:No border killing took place in Bangladeshi soil. BSF has replaced lethal weapons with non lethal ones to stop unnecessary bloodshed. But criminals operating on either side of the border have taken advantage and became active. They have attacked BSF personnel with improvised cutters and weapons in which about 55 jawans have been injured over a period of time.

These were revealed by director general of BSF, Nitin Agarwal during a conference with Bangladeshi counterpart BGB in Dhaka recently. Speaking exclusively with ANM News over phone, the DG, BSF mentioned that he emphasised on covering the entire border with fences and putting up gates and electronic monitoring devices. ``The fences and gates will deter criminals and infiltrators. We have a zero tolerance policy on border crime and illegal infiltration. The BGB raised a few points which we promised to look into on top priority,'' Agarwal said. Indo-Bangladesh border management and crime control had taken centre stage over the last one year with spate of illegal immigration into India and heightened desperation among border criminals.
