New Delhi — The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday addressed public concerns regarding the recent update to the United States’ travel advisory for India, confirming that there has been no change in the advisory level, which continues to remain at Level 2 — the same category it has been under for several years.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Travel advisories are periodically issued by countries based on the assessment of various factors. We have noted that the United States has also updated its travel advisory for India on June 16.”

He added that the Indian side has been in communication with US authorities, who confirmed that the overall advisory level for India has not changed. “We have been informed by the US authorities that there has been no change in India’s advisory level, which remains at Level Two — the same as before.”

Level 2 in the US State Department’s travel advisory system suggests that travelers should exercise increased caution, a common status shared by numerous countries and not indicative of any major risk.
