BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least nine people were killed in lightning strikes in six districts of Bihar on Friday. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the tragic incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

Nitish Kumar urged the people of the state to remain vigilant and stay at home. The Chief Minister urged the people to follow the suggestions issued by the Disaster Management Department.

"Three people died in Arwal, two in Rohtas, one in Muzaffarpur, one in Banka, one in East Champaran and one in Nalanda," Kumar said. An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the deceased. "
