BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a fierce crackdown on international drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has traced a multi-drug cartel in Goa for more than two weeks and arrested three persons, including two Russian nationals. Indian and foreign currency, fake documents and identity cards were seized from the accused. Besides various types of drugs, Tk 4.88 lakh in cash, $1,829 and Tk 1,720 in Thai bath were recovered. "Based on information that a Russian cartel was actively operating in Arambol and adjoining areas of Goa, the Intel network and further analysis were initiated," the NCB said. After extensive intelligence exercises, a Russian woman named S. Varganova, who was only involved in drug trafficking to foreigners, has been identified. Another Russian national, Andrey, has been detained, the sources said.
